The Police Authority’s key purpose is to ensure the maintenance of an efficient and effective police service in the force area. Our responsibilities include setting the annual budget, agreeing policing priorities and monitoring the Force’s performance.

A key role is to engage with local people to find out what they want from their police service. The feedback we get then helps us to set the priorities and objectives for the police and informs the decisions we make about resources.
