Independent Custody Visiting

Independent Custody Visitors are members of the local community
who visit police stations unannounced to check on the welfare of
people in police custody. Visits are random and can take place at
any time in the day or night.
The role of Dorset Police Authority is to ensure that an
Independent Custody Visiting Scheme operates effectively in Dorset.
The scheme itself operates independently of both the Force and
Authority.
In this area of the website you will find further information on
our Custody Visiting scheme and on Independent Custody
Visiting in general.
