Information on Dorset Police Authority Member Allowances and Expenses

Members' Allowance Scheme

The Police Authority is required to approve a Members' Allowance Scheme annually. The framework and principles adopted in setting the scheme were set out by a national Independent Panel in 2009 and are intended to ensure that the system of allowances are fair and realistic to enable members to fulfill their duties professionally and effectively.

Allowances are set at levels to ensure that, within reason, no-one is prevented from being a member of the Police Authority simply because of financial constraints.
